I had to find out who this woman pretending to be Nina was!

She knew some of my history with Nina, and she had gotten close to Mia, but she still hadn’t done anything outrageous.

That meant there was still room to negotiate.

What she wanted was probably hush money.

I needed to shut her up as soon as possible!

Everything I had came from Mia. If Mia found out I had once betrayed her, I would lose everything.

“Darling, I’m just going in for a postpartum checkup. Why are you so nervous?”

On the way to the hospital, I felt icy cold all over, but my palm was sweating on the steering wheel.

Mia noticed something was off.

I forced out a smile and brushed it off. “Nothing. Work’s been too busy lately. I just haven’t had enough rest.”

After getting promoted to general manager, I almost had no time off.

Even when Mia was hospitalized during her pregnancy, I was out of town on a business trip and didn’t have time to stay with her.

This was also my first time going to the hospital where she gave birth.

I found out that this hospital had only been built recently, and the address.......

It was built right on the patch of empty land where I had once buried a body!

“My dad is way too inconsiderate. He’s using you like a workhorse! I’m going to talk to him and make him give you a few days off.”

Listening to Mia complain, I couldn’t help smiling.

“It’s not Dad’s fault. I can handle it. I just won’t have time to stay with you.”

“Oh, right—”

My whole mind was on the woman pretending to be Nina, and I deliberately acted like I had just remembered something. “Did you make an appointment with Nina? Since you have time today, you might as well meet her.”

Mia shook her head.

“No. I forgot to leave her contact info.”

“But she’s a nurse at this hospital. We can just go look for her directly.”

Whenever Nina came up, Mia immediately narrowed her eyes, looking like she really liked her.

“Nina is not only pretty, but she’s also really kind to me, and her style is so good too! I get along great with her, and we already agreed that she’d be the baby’s godmother at the one-month party.”

“You don’t mind, right? After all, she did save the baby’s life.”

I gripped the steering wheel hard, not knowing how to answer.

I couldn’t understand why the woman pretending to be Nina was so close to Mia.

If she wanted money, just letting me know she existed would be enough.

Did she really want to be the baby’s godmother and use this secret to blackmail me for the rest of my life?

I was even more desperate to see her now!

After Mia finished her checkup, we immediately found the head nurse and asked whether Nina was there.

But the head nurse seemed not to know this person at all, and looked confused. “Nina? What Nina?”

“There isn’t even anyone named Nina in our hospital!”

Mia’s eyes widened. “Huh?”

“That’s impossible!”

“The nurse who took the best care of me here was Nina!”

Mia came from a well-off family, and her dad had some connection with the hospital director.

The head nurse took Mia seriously and called over all the nurses who had taken care of her.

Not one of them looked like Nina.

Mia frowned and shook her head.

“Were these nurses all on day shift?”

“I remember now. Nina worked the night shift. She was an orphan, small and thin, with a little baby fat, and she even had cute dimples.”

After Mia finished speaking, not only the head nurse, but all the nurses there shook their heads in unison.

They said they had never seen the person Mia described.

In other words, there was no nurse named Nina at this hospital!
