My Housekeeper's Son Stole My Identity
Chapter 2
After our colleagues pulled us apart, Tyler patted his chest, acting as if he were still shaken up.
Then, he pulled a diamond necklace out of his pocket and placed it in Chloe’s hand.
He held her hand with an apologetic look. "Thanks for back there, Chloe. Logan is just too reckless. Take this pendant as an apology on his behalf."
The moment the necklace appeared, a sharp-eyed colleague gasped.
"Oh my god! Isn't that the twenty-million-dollar diamond necklace Mr. Miller bought at the auction last month?"
"Tyler is just giving away something like that? Who exactly is he?"
Hearing the gasps around him, Tyler’s smile widened.
He cleared his throat, trying to sound casual. "Oh, it's just a little toy to make her happy. I'm a guy, so I don't really wear stuff like this. Chloe has such a pretty, slender neck. It'll look gorgeous on her."
I almost laughed out loud.
That necklace was a wedding anniversary gift my dad had bought for my mom. Tyler had stolen it to pick up girls.
It seemed he had gotten so used to taking my things that he now dared to steal from my parents.
Before this, many of my luxury items had gone missing, and I always assumed I had just misplaced them.
Now I knew Tyler had taken them to show off.
As Tyler kept playing the rich heir, our colleagues got more and more curious.
"I heard the CEO’s son is currently working at the entry level of our company to gain experience. Could that be Tyler?"
Dave, the group leader, looked me up and down with a strange expression. "I heard from HR that they only hired two people with the last name Miller recently. One is the CEO's son, and the other is his nanny's son."
The only two Millers in the company were Tyler and me.
Instantly, people looked at me with disdain, and someone joked to Chloe, "Chloe, what's up with your taste?
You're the General Manager's daughter. Why are you dating a nanny's son like Logan? What do you even see in him?"
"Honestly, Chloe and Tyler look way more compatible. They're a perfect match."
Another colleague began to kiss Tyler's ass. "Tyler, you're so generous! You didn't even forget to help your nanny's son get a job here after you joined the company."
Chloe's face turned pale as she listened to them. The affection in her eyes when she looked at me turned into pure disgust.
I just sneered and looked at Tyler. "You dare to steal my mother’s jewelry and give it away? Aren't you afraid she’ll find out? And...
If I remember correctly, that necklace was locked in the safe. How did you get your hands on it?"
Faced with my questions, Tyler kept winking at me, silently begging me to play along.
After all, in the past, whenever he wanted to flex in front of my dates, I would always step back to satisfy his vanity.
I even used to buy him dinner to thank him for "testing" those girls. Thinking back, I was such an idiot.
I completely ignored his winks.
I pulled out my phone and opened SnapChat to message my mom. "I’m going to video-call my mom right now and ask her why her necklace is in your hands."
Seeing the sudden shift in the situation, our colleagues and Chloe looked confused.
Tyler finally lost his cool. He turned red, grabbed the necklace back from Chloe’s hand, and slammed it hard onto the floor.
"It’s just a piece of cheap glass! Look at you, acting like you've never seen anything nice."
The necklace shattered on the ground. The room fell dead silent. No one could believe a twenty-million-dollar necklace had just been smashed to pieces.
I didn't say a word. I just kept my phone up, recording the entire thing.
Tyler seemed to realize what he had done. He muttered nervously, "Must be a fake. Real diamonds don't break that easily."
I sneered. "Whether it's fake or not, you know the truth. You better start thinking about how you're going to pay for it."
I put my phone away and turned to leave. Tyler tried to block me in a panic, but he slipped on the shattered pieces.
With a loud thud, his head hit the edge of a desk, knocking documents all over the floor.
He looked up at me miserably, his eyes full of resentment. "Logan, we’ve been brothers for so many years. Are you really doing this to me?"
If this were my past life, I would have forgiven him instantly. But now, it just made me sick.
I spat on the ground and turned away.
Chloe suddenly rushed over and slapped me across the face. She yelled, "Logan! How can you be so ungrateful? Tyler went out of his way to help you, and this is how you treat him?
Apologize to Tyler right now! Do you have any idea how much your trashy behavior is ruining the company's reputation?"
Looking at Chloe protecting Tyler, my heart felt a bit heavy.
I didn't expect that out of all the girls Tyler had "tested" for me, the one I actually wanted to spend my life with would turn out to be such a gold-digger.
Eventually, Chloe and a group of colleagues helped Tyler up and escorted him to the breakroom.
